Our patient account representatives can identify reimbursement procedures for most plans and file the insurance claim for you. We work to make sure you receive the full benefits of your insurance coverage.
For any questions regarding your specific insurance, we've established a centralized "one-call" billing office to answer any of your questions.

Virginia Heart will file your insurance claims for you. Because of special requirements by insurance companies and frequent changes in the requirements, we must have a copy of your insurance card.
When Virginia Heart files your insurance claims, we ask your insurance company to send payment directly to us. We allow your insurance company time to process and pay your bill. However, if a timely payment has not been received, you will be billed for the unpaid balance.

Your insurance may require pre-authorization or a referral to see one of our physicians. You will need to obtain the required referral and bring it with you to your office visit. (Note: If an insurance plan requires a referral but the patient does not have one, the patient will need to sign a waiver stating that he/she agrees to be responsible for payment in full.)
Many insurance plans require patient to pay a co-payment at the time of service. Please come to your appointment prepared to make your co-payment.
Many insurance plans require patients to pay a deductible. Please come to your appointment prepared to make payment towards your deductible, if required.
Paying for your care
Virginia Heart has transitioned to a new electronic medical record to better serve you: EpicCare. This is being done through our partnership with Inova Health System. Due to this transition, some patients will receive more than one bill for their Virginia Heart services. For services rendered before 5/1/21 that have an outstanding balance, you will receive a separate statement. We ask that you make a payment in full within 30 days of receiving this statement. Payments may be made by cash, personal check, money order, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Card.
