Virginia Heart appoints new President & Chief Medical Officer

Virginia Heart is excited to announce that Dr. Ketan K. Trivedi, M.D., has been appointed the new President and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) effective January 1, 2023. Dr. Trivedi will succeed Dr. Warren S. Levy, M.D., who has served as the President and Chief Medical Officer of Virginia Heart for the past 23 years. As Dr. Levy transitions out of this role, we reflect on all that his leadership has done for Virginia Heart and the patients we care for.  During his time as CMO, Virginia Heart has grown from 15 to 52 physicians and 27 advanced practice practitioners providing comprehensive cardiovascular care to the communities that we serve. The accomplishments of the past 23 years are too numerous to list, and these have led Virginia Heart to be the preeminent cardiovascular practice in the mid-Atlantic. Dr. Levy will continue to see patients in the Arlington Office, serve as a member of Virginia Heart’s Leadership Team, and take on additional responsibilities for the Inova Heart and Vascular Service Line.

Dr. Trivedi has served as the Associate Chief Medical officer of Virginia Heart for the past 3 years and has been a practicing cardiologist for over 20 years. He is an experienced physician executive with a strong track record of collaborating with fellow physicians and leaders to improve the patient experience and the quality of care they receive.

Dr. Levy reflects on this upcoming transition by saying, “We have taken succession planning very seriously and have devoted a great deal of time to prepare Dr. Trivedi for this role. He is extremely qualified and ready to assume this position and is well-respected and admired by the physicians and staff of Virginia Heart.”

In his new role, Dr. Trivedi’s responsibilities will include operational oversight of medical staff activities, leading the alignment and partnership with the local hospital systems that we serve, and overseeing the quality initiatives that allow Virginia Heart the ability to improve the health and well-being of our community.

Dr. Trivedi adds, “Over the last 21 years I have seen Virginia Heart grow into an organization with a reputation for excellence locally, regionally, and nationally. I am honored and grateful to work with an amazing team dedicated to continuing that tradition and to taking on the challenges of tomorrow. The culture and organizational infrastructure that Dr. Levy and our other leaders have laid down will be the foundation upon which we will continue to build a successful future.”
