 Why Are Women More Effected?

  • Women are more likely to have risk factors for heart disease such as   obesity and high blood pressure
  • Women may be less likely to know that they have heart disease
  • Women are too busy taking care of others in their lives, versus their own health
  • Women's complaints may not be taken seriously

  • Fatigue
  • Indigestion
  • Back pain
  • Nausea

Are You At Risk?

Risk factors are habits and conditions that make heart disease more likely. We recommend you make an appointment with your primary care or a cardiologist if you have one or more of the following risk factors:

  • High cholesterol (>200 Total Cholesterol or < 50 HDL)
  • Cigarette Smoker
  • Hypertension (>120/80)
  • Poor diet
  • Inactivity
  • Obesity
  • Family history of early coronary heart disease

Additional risk factors include:

  • Coronary calcification
  • Metabolic Syndrome
  • History of preeclampsia, gestational diabetes or pregnancy related hypertension
  • Vascular disease

Know your numbers and other risk factors and if necessary modify your risk through maintaining a healthy heart lifestyle - maintaining a healthy weight and getting the recommended amount of exercise.  Complete our risk factor questionnaire to see if you are at risk for heart disease.
