Nicholas Cossa, MD, specializes in general and interventional cardiology, including the use of echocardiography to diagnose cardiac conditions. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and internal medicine. “I have been practicing general cardiology and interventional cardiology for 30 years and have seen tremendous advances in interventional cardiology which have allowed me to provide better care and better outcomes to my patients,” he said.

Dr. Cossa earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College of Union University and pursued his residency at Washington Hospital Center, where he also completed a fellowship in cardiology.

In his free time, Dr. Cossa enjoys physical training and tennis. He also enjoys taking cycling trips with his wife at home and abroad for both exercise and relaxation.

Christine and Vince Cavaleri aren’t letting their age—or cardiac conditions—slow them down. Vince, 89, suffers from valve disease and congestive heart failure. Christine, 77, is a heart attack survivor. But they follow the advice of Dr. Nicholas Cossa at Virginia Heart and exercise almost every day, adhere to a healthy diet and stay busy pursuing their hobbies. Vince even works part-time.
