For Referring Physicians

At Virginia Heart, we value our strong relationships with the greater community of physicians and referring providers. We take care to reinforce your role as the patient's primary care physician and our role as a cardiac consultant.

Refer a Patient

You can refer a patient to Virginia Heart by either:

• Downloading a referral form from the menu on the right, filling it and faxing it to our dedicated scheduling fax number at (703) 591-1849, or
• Calling one of our local offices and selecting option 1 to speak with a Patient Services Specialist at the front desk of that office. Our office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Preauthorization

Many insurance companies now require the ordering physician to obtain pre-authorization for non-emergency cardiology services such as echocardiography, nuclear imaging, or cardiac catheterization.

Our Pre-Authorization Assistance Center is available to work on your behalf to obtain required pre-authorizations from the insurance companies. Contact our Pre-Authorization Center at (703) 621-4505 for more information or to enroll in this valuable referring physician service.

Complete Care

Virginia Heart is the most comprehensive cardiovascular practice in Northern Virginia with 19office locations and more than 37 board certified physicians. Whether a patient requires a simple electrocardiogram or must undergo a complex electrophysiology procedure, our physicians can, within one practice, identify the problem and implement the best treatment. We cover the entire spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic options--from cardiac ultrasound and nuclear stress tests to balloon angioplasty and radio frequency catheter ablations.

Electronic Medical Records

Our ability to share information with you is greatly increased by our investment in an advanced electronic health record (EHR) system, which enables us to easily transfer patient data to you and to other physicians within our practice for collaboration. In the case of an emergency, a patient's record can be obtained by our designated physicians who are always available at area hospitals.

Timely Appointments

Because of the critical nature of heart care, we make every effort to see your patient as soon as possible. Patients with urgent issues are given priority.

Patients can use our convenient main appointment line, 703-621-4501, to arrange an office visit, test or procedure at a convenient time and location. If the patient has had previous office visits, we can electronically identify the patient's initial cardiologist, the office location and procedures performed, thereby avoiding duplication or delay.

In order to expedite first-time office visits, patients can fill out new patient forms through this website.

Timely Test Results

We are often able to obtain test results from our labs or affiliated hospitals within 24 hours of a patient's visit, allowing us to communicate quickly with you and patients.
